Thankfully as the rivers are doing their thing the lakes are a much better option right now. Most lakes have warmed up a lot in the last week and the temps are getting near or above 50 degrees which is getting things going. Pike have been a little slow, which is typical, but the bass have started to move in and the Crappie and pan fish are starting to pod up and stage in the open water. A few more days of sun should really help and the then it should be more consistent. The afternoons and evening have been better as the water warms up throughout the day, but things are just getting going. Bigger pike flies in red/white, black/purple, and perchy colored patterns are good for searching and the balanced leeches, wooly buggers and some medium sized nymphs suspended just off the weed beds have been finding some pan fish.
