Cooling off up here as well. Mornings have slowed down so no need to get there too early, but a push of rain will help these next few days. The lower river is fishing well so no need to go up to the top unless you are spending a few days but be ready since the nights are going to be a bit cooler now. October caddis, spruce moths, smaller caddis, BWO’s, mahoganies, ants, beetles, will all still work well depending where on the river you are and the conditions. Throwing streamers and getting a little deeper with some nymphs can make for a good day as well.

Good option closer to home. The upper river is fishing well for bass, but the water is cooling off so there have been a few trout around in the mornings and evenings. The flows are coming up so the fishing is a little better now. Once we get thru the next few hot days it should start getting better for trout as the nights really cool off. Big nymphs under an indicator or swinging streamers on a sink tip are fun ways to cover the water!
The Clearwater has been producing some steelhead and while it is a little early for the other rivers, this cooler weather has been awesome and should make them better options soon! Floating lines and small flies are a fun way to cover the water this time of year, but any way you want to fish for them is a good way to spend your time!
Fish early and late with the hot weather. Water temps are getting high in a lot of the area lakes so fishing has slowed down a little bit especially in the afternoons. Top water poppers with a leech dropper has been effective when the fish are in tight to structure or a leech under an indicator off the rocky points and drop offs.
